Fabiola Uwera

Fabiola is an attorney and researcher at the intersection of intellectual property law, emerging technologies, public policy, data privacy and data protection, and gender justice. She advises businesses, governments, and startups on legal compliance, regulatory frameworks, and gender-responsive policies, and conducts training on AI literacy, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, and generative AI and copyright law. Her experience includes roles at Levy Firestone Muse LLP, Certa Foundation, Georgetown Law's Center on National Security, and Tech Justice Law (Washington, D.C.). Her research interests include the effects of human–computer interaction on creativity, mental health, culture, and language. Fabiola holds an LL.M. in Technology Law and Policy from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington D.C.; LL.B. from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and a diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development in Rwanda. She was a 2024 Fellow in both the Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) and Women's Law and Public Policy (WLPP) Fellowship Programs at Georgetown University. 

Beyond her legal work, Fabiola is a multidisciplinary artist, freelance writer, and film critic. She is a Berlinale Talent Press 2022 alumna and a member of the Fédération Africaine de la Critique Cinématographique (FACC). Her practice centers on art as a tool for advocacy and community engagement.  She has worked with a range of art institutions as a curator, trainer, participating artist, and board member. Notably, she curated the 2018 East Africa Art Biennale (EASTAFAB) traveling exhibition, which brought together more than 100 artists from across the region.

Fabiola has contributed to Tech Policy Press, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) annual Legislative Predictions white paper, the Victim and Survivor Consultation Protocol: A Tool for Policy-Makers, the Muse Report, and a 2026 report on the state of intellectual property and artificial intelligence in Africa, among others. Her writing also appears in art and film criticism outlets such as Africine, Awotele, Noo' Culture, and Berlinale Talent Press, among others. Proficient in Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, English, and French, she brings a multilingual and multicultural perspective to her work.

Yuhi Amuli

Yuhi Amuli is a legal consultant and filmmaker operating at the intersection of law, business, and the creative industries. He advises creatives, production companies, and cultural entrepreneurs, offering a distinctive perspective shaped by his dual experience in legal practice and filmmaking. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Entertainment Law from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Independent University of Kigali.

In parallel with his legal practice, Yuhi leads a successful film production company through which he has written, produced, and directed award-winning films for global audiences. His work has screened at leading festivals across Africa, Europe, and North America, and he is a recipient of an Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film by a Director.

Yuhi’s consulting practice focuses on the film, television, and broader creative sectors, where he advises on contracts, intellectual property, development, and production-related matters. His work is defined by strategic clarity, commercial awareness, and a deep understanding of the creative process, particularly within emerging and cross-border markets. He is committed to helping clients structure, protect, and scale their creative ventures, while contributing to the long-term growth of the creative economy in Africa and internationally.
